Vertigo - Dizziness - Vestibular Rehabilitation
WE CAN HELP.
We have physiotherapists Certified in Vestibular Rehabilitation.
Human body’s sensation of balance is complex which involved the brain, the spinal cord, the eyes, the ears and the receptors in the skin, joints and muscles. Disruption to any of these areas through injury or disease can affect one’s feeling of being balanced commonly knows as Dizziness or imbalance or Vertigo (spinning) more or less with nausea, problems with vision, and light-headedness, anxiety, among other debilitating symptoms.
Dizziness is a non-specific term used to describe a range of sensations, such as feeling faint, woozy, weak or unsteady.
Vertigo is a specific type of dizziness where there is the illusion of movement in the environment (e.g. spinning, whirling) when there is dysfunction or disease within the inner ear portion of the balance pathway or along the inner ears’ connections to the brain.
Vestibular rehabilitation is an evidence-based approach to managing dizziness, vertigo, motion sensitivity, balance and postural control issues that occur due to vestibular dysfunction and your Physiotherapist will do in-depth assessment to identify underlying cause and develop a custom evidence-based Rehabilitations plan.
Concussion
It needs Rehab and should start as soon as possible.
We have a Physiotherapist who is certified to Assess and create customize rehab program for Post-concussion Rehabilitation.
Concussion can be caused directly or indirectly. It can result from any direct blow to the head[2]. However, traumatic forces exerted elsewhere on the body can also cause concussion via an acceleration/deceleration injury to the brain.
Concussions are classified as a subset under Traumatic Brain Injury, which leads to a disruption of normal brain function. ‘Mild traumatic brain injury’ and the term ‘concussion’ are often used interchangeably. Concussion impacts cognitive processes, emotions, and memory in individuals.
Less than 10% of concussions result in loss of consciousness, commonly referred to as being "knocked out," and it is not diagnosing a concussion.
According to Non-Elite (Grassroots) Sport published in 2023 [5], concussion effects were classified into 4 main domains:
1. Physical - e.g. headaches, dizziness, vision changes
2. Mental Processing - e.g. not thinking clearly, feeling slowed down
3. Mood - e.g. short tempered, sad, emotional
4. Sleep - e.g. insomnia, excessive sleep

Acupuncture
Traditional Chinese medicine explains acupuncture as a technique for balancing the flow of energy or life force — known as chi or qi. By inserting needles into specific points along these meridians, acupuncture practitioners believe that your energy flow will re-balance. Some of the acupuncture points stimulate nerves, muscles and connective tissue which can boost your body's natural painkillers.
Dry Needling
Trigger-point dry needling is an invasive procedure where an acupuncture needle is inserted into the skin and muscle. It is aimed at myofascial trigger points which are hyper irritable spots in skeletal muscle that are associated with a hypersensitive palpable nodule in a taut band.
Trigger point dry needling can be carried out at superficial or deep tissue level.
